Big Walnut Girls' Track and Field wins Delaware Hayes Invitational
Posted on 04/22/2025
This might have been the most exciting and difficult meet I have ever been involved in as a coach. There were 24 top 50 state performances throughout the night. We had five of those performances ourselves Natalie Vrancken’s discus throw of 138’ 7” is a top 10 state throw and the second best in school history; Karsyn Klaus’s long jump of 17’ 0” is a top 25 leap in the state; Karly Gneiting’s 300 hurdle time is top 50, as are Leigha Kay’s 800m run, and Grace Buskirk’s 3200m run. Grace’s time of 11:36 is the second fastest time in school history.
Not only were the individual results impressive, we also beat some great programs. Orange and Liberty have been two of the best teams in Central Ohio the last several years, and Delaware Hayes is the two time defending OCC champions, so it was good to see them this early and test ourselves against such amazing talent. With the victory this week and last week’s Eagle Relays, our record stands at 34-4.
