The boys lax team completed a very successful season with a 14-1 victory over Hilliard Weaver. The biggest highlight of the game was Max Osborne setting a new school record, winning his 200th career faceoff. The rest of the Eagles completely overwhelmed and overmatched the Weaver team, taking a 12-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. The coaches would like to send special shout outs to the 8th graders who took the field for the last time as middle school lax players. Those players include: Max, Maclain, Brandt, Wes, Brady, Clark, Brock, Aiden, Noah, Jackson and Cam. A special shout out to Ozzie who helped with the team all season long.

Despite a tough start to the weekend, the boys lax team rebounded on Sunday with another win over rival Delaware Dempsey by score of 11-6. The Eagles jumped out early and took control of the game with goals from Aidan, Adrian and Isaiah. Maclain played his best game of the season in the field, and as emergency goalie for part of the game. Brandt played tough, physical defense, and Billy added energy and hustle. Big shout outs to Zane Bodak for a strong two-way game and Joe Amato who was ready to jump into a few position when the team needed him. The coaches and parents were very proud of the effort of the team.

7th grade softball defeated Marysville in both games of their doubleheader in nail-biter finishes - 16-14 in extra innings and 13-11. In both games, the girls came from behind using great team work and hitting including walk off doubles from Addi Smith and Harper Swonguer. The girls finished the season with an impressive 13-2 record. Coach Bonno and Coach Weikel could not be prouder. Go Eagles!

Big Walnut Eagle MS - 7th snatched the lead late in their 5-4 victory over Centerburg Jr High Trojans on Monday. The game was tied at four in the top of the fifth when Hunter McKinney induced Colin Schuerman to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. Big Walnut Eagle MS - 7th captured the lead, 5-4, in the top of the fifth after Darren Riley walked, Graham Mitchell grounded out, and Colin Schuerman grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. Big Walnut Eagle MS - 7th easily dispatched Delaware Dempsey 7th Grade BB on Friday at Big Walnut Middle School, 10-0. Big Walnut Eagle MS - 7th got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Graham Mitchell walked, Colin Schuerman walked, Ethan Smith grounded out, and Michael Schumm grounded out, each scoring one run. A single by Colin Schuerman extended the Big Walnut Eagle MS - 7th lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the second inning. 7th grade softball defeated Westerville Heritage 30-3. There was a lot of great hitting including 2 out of the park home runs from Addi Smith! Along with great base running from Sierra Woodward, Natalee Striefel was a strong presence in the circle for the Eagles. 7th grade softball has their final games at home this Saturday against Marysville.

The boy's lacrosse team had their biggest win of the season last night, defeating Delaware Dempsey by a score of 10 - 4. Max continued to dominate faceoff possessions, winning 13 out of 17 chances. Isaiah and Adrian Jones each scored 4 goals, with Brock and Zane each adding a goal as well. The defense was led by the efforts of Andy who had an amazing 10 saves. Caiden Evangelista, Carter Royer, Brady, and Brandt all contributed to the great showing by the defense. The Eagles will play this weekend in the OMSLA tournament in Dublin. Good luck Eagles!!

7th grade softball lost one and won one against Upper Arlington Hastings and Jones - 1-8 and 14-12. We had great all around pitching and fielding with a great catch in right field from Addy Moseley. The day started out slow but picked up with hitting finishing with a triple from Aleena Woodard to win the second game. 7th grade softball’s next game is away against Westerville Genoa on Tuesday.

Congratulations to the 8th grade girls on their 2 victories over Pickerington Lakeview over the weekend by scores of 17-1 and 23-16. The team bats were on FIRE. The eagles combined for 35 hits over the 2 games. 10 of those hits were for extra bases. Zoey Greenawalt, Zella Crumley and Kori Batt pitched solidly from the mound. The eagles will play at Olentangy Shanahan on Tuesday.

Congratulations to the 8th grade on their 12-6 victory over Olentangy last night. Kaylie Akers and Kayla Lesher lead the eagles on offense with 2 doubles each. Zella Crumley added a double. The eagles played solid defense behind pitcher Brooklyn Harper who recorded 4 strikeouts in the game. Akers continued her 13-game hitting streak. The boys lacrosse team did it again last night, defeating the previously unbeaten Worthington McCord Wolves by a score of 12 - 4. It was a tough, physical game but the Eagles kept their cool and played a smart, team oriented game. Isaiah played a great, netting six goals on seven shots. Also scoring for Big Walnut were Brock, Brady, Max, Adrian, and Maclain Baker who scored his first goal of the season on an end-to-end fast break. Andy was great in goal, with 12 saves. Carter Royer, Joe Amato, Clark Reckner led the defensive effort. The Eagles play at home again on Monday evening at 5:30 against Olentangy Berlin. BWMS is proud to present the 2026 Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award to Grant Harris and Abby Hershberger. This award is given to one middle school male and one middle school female athlete from each school in the Ohio High School Athletic Association and is the highest honor an athlete can achieve from our school. The purpose of this award is to recognize these outstanding athletes who each exemplify the ideals of sportsmanship. Some of these ideals and qualities, which Mr. Griffin himself displays, are integrity, leadership, a positive attitude, academic discipline, humility and volunteerism. Archie Griffin is a two-time Heisman Trophy winner from The Ohio State University. During his high school and collegiate career, Mr. Griffin demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, integrity and ethics. Congratulations to Grant and Abby for their outstanding achievements!!
