Senior Jagger Barnett scored 14 points to help lift the Big Walnut boys basketball team to a 57-38 win over host Westerville North on Jan. 5, 2021.
The Golden Eagles (3-1) were up 11-9 after the first quarter and took a 28-19 lead into halftime.
“We got out to a really good start,” said Big Walnut coach Brett Bartlett. “They came back, but we did a good job of running our stuff offensively. We executed and made the extra pass. We played in to out and got good shots. Defensively we were real solid in the first half.”
The Warriors came back to tie the game at 30 in the third quarter, but Big Walnut still led 35-32 entering the final period.
“They came back in the third quarter, but our kids responded, took the lead and never looked back,” Bartlett said.
Besides Barnett, seven other Golden Eagles reached the scoring column. Freshman Garrett Stover added 12 points and senior Caleb Conard 11.
North dropped to 0-3 with the loss.
