On Friday, January 10, 2020, the Big Walnut FFA and Food Science Teams were recognized before the start of the boy’s varsity basketball game.
Big Walnut High School and The Big Walnut Athletic Department would like to recognize our FFA and Food Science teams led by Big Walnut High School teacher Jeff Stimmell.
In October, students from Big Walnut High School traveled to Indianapolis, IN to compete at the National FFA Convention. Rachel Sherman represented Ohio in the Dairy Production – Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award Area. Rachel interviewed against four other national finalist students and was named the national winner!
The Food Science & Technology Career Development Event Team, consisting of Jillian Salmon, Kyle Lortz, Caroline Elicson, Chris Dible, and Kaelyn Lortz, competed against 36 other state champion teams and for the second year in a row, the team placed first in the nation, making Big Walnut the first school in the history of the FFA to win this CDE two years in a row and the only team from Ohio to have two national winners this year.
For their achievements, all of these students have received college scholarships and an all-expense paid trip to Atlanta, Georgia this winter.
Congrats to our FFA and Food Science teams!!
