Saturday, August 10th, was the first chance for the Big Walnut Eagles Football team to scrimmage full contact and see how they look this year. Both fans and coaches alike were happy with what they saw. Under Jr. QB Jagger Barnett the offense was firing on all cylinders with a dynamic passing game and powerful running game. This is much more of a balanced pass/run scheme than we’ve seen in the past. With the departure of Coach Rucker to become the MS assistant principal, Coach Ross switched sides and is now calling the offense and Coach Weaver returns to running the defense. Big Walnut ‘won’ the live part of the scrimmage with the only TD scored, and shut Mt. Vernon out on defense. As always there is room for improvement, but the season ahead looks promising.
