Congrats to Ethan Wetzel who has been hired to be the new Strength and Fitness Coach at Big Walnut High School after Coach Rittgers resigned to take a position at Penn State. Coach Wetzel will be returning to his alma mater where he graduated in 2008 and was the quarterback on the Big Walnut 2007 State Championship Football Team. After high school, Coach Wetzel attended Muskingham University and was an All-Conference Linebacker earning a B.A. Degree in English. Coach Wetzel obtained his Masters of Science Degree from Otterbein University in Allied Health and Wellness. At Otterbein, Coach Wetzel was a graduate assistant and led their Strength and Conditioning program. In 2014, Coach Wetzel returned to Muskingum University where he was the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for four years as well as Defensive Coordinator for the football team.
While at Muskingum University he was also a professor teaching courses on weight/fitness training and nutrition. Coach Wetzel obtained his certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Coach Wetzel resides in Westerville with his wife Nicole and they are expecting a baby boy this spring.
We are so fortunate to be able to bring Coach Wetzel back to his home school. Coach Wetzel will be a great role model for our female and male athletes who are training to prevent injuries and compete at the highest level possible.
