Congrats to Chris Allen who has accepted the position of Head Girls Soccer Coach at Big Walnut High School, pending board approval.
A native of St Catherine, Jamaica, Coach Allen completed his four-year collegiate playing career at NAIA Mount Vernon Nazarene University from 2008-11. As a forward, Coach Allen finished his career ranked ninth in school history for goals and assists, eighth in school history for total points, and was part of Mount Vernon’s first, and only, NAIA Final Four team.
Following his collegiate career, Coach Allen stayed on as a member of the MVNU men’s soccer coaching staff from 2012-15. He aided the team in accomplishing numerous accolades during that span, including 11 all-region honorees, nine all-conference selections, and 16 NAIA/NCAA academic awards.
This past season Coach Allen was an assistant boys coach with Otterbein University under the leadership of Jason Griffiths. The Otterbein boys finished the season at 19-3. Coach Allen is a well-respected club coach with Classics Eagles FC.
Coach Allen, who holds a USSF National D License, currently resides in Sunbury with his wife, Amanda, and their son, CJ.
Coach Allen is a coach that is hyper-focuses on the development of players and building positive relationships.
I am confident the Big Walnut girls soccer program has taken another step forward with the hiring of Coach Allen.
Coach Allen is inheriting a team that made it to the Ohio Division II Final Four in the fall of 2017 losing to eventual State Champion Indian Hill. Recently, OHSAA announced divisions for the 2018-19 school year and Big Walnut girls soccer will remain Division II. The team is returning several starters with a strong group of younger players that will help the team be in a position to make another run this fall.
A meet the coach night will be scheduled soon.
